This is a quick demo for a basic RTS I've been mulling over for 'a while' now =\
The TL;DR is:
1) pick the building from the menu (press Space for menu)
2) place it where you want it
3) target that building's output to an enemy building or a mine (if your building's a barracks)
4) go to 1)
The idea is the player only aims the output of each building, they don't control the units themselves. Tanks can only be aimed at your opponent's buildings. However, barracks produce soldiers that can attack the opponent's buildings or they can enter a mine, where they will increase the player's 'share' of that mine's production. Each mine pays out to any players who are fighting over it every few seconds. Players can send multiple streams of soldiers to a mine to increase their share of that mine's output.
This game is very bare-bones right now, just enough to gt started. The two nations have functionally identical units, even though they look very different, not to mention there's only two buildings available, a barracks and a tank factory. So right now the 'S' of this RTS is very limited, lol
As there's no population caps so the performance really takes a hit once both players have a bunch of buildings sending hundreds of units all over the map. With that said I am running a very basic iMac from 2017 so I'm very keen to see how more modern processors fare. Refactoring to DOTS is on the horizon, but that horizon's a long way off right now ;-)
Finally, the art is very place-holder-y as I actually haven't even settled on an art style yet.
